The Job in a Nutshell:

The IT Business Applications Specialist is responsible for IT application support including maintenance, administration, and Tier-2 support issues as well as gathering, understanding, and addressing business requirements.

Responsibilities

Main Ingredients:

  • Deploy, configure, and update business applications including but not limited to POS systems.

  • Automate application deployments and updates with scripts and other central management tools.

  • Work with vendors and other departments to ensure data in and out of POS Systems and other business applications is accurate and handled efficiently.

  • Develop, document, and implement test plans for business applications.

  • Work with other IT Teams to configure servers, POS terminals, workstations, and handheld devices to run securely and in a user-friendly manner that meets business needs.

  • Work with vendors and programmers to develop new applications for Android and Windows systems.

  • Work with vendors and programmers to develop configurations and customizations to POS and other business applications.

  • Maintain integrity of dev, QA, and production environments.

  • Understand business needs, gather requirements, and configure applications and systems to fulfill those needs.

  • Configure POS hardware and peripherals to work efficiently with POS systems

  • Provide Tier-2 technical support for business applications including Point-of-Sale (POS) system and Android devices.

  • Provide thorough, regular status updates to management regarding workload, project status, priorities and issues needing resolution or escalation.

  • Participate in disaster recovery activities as required.

  • Maintain process and systems for building POS terminals and store workstations.

  • Participate in special projects as required.

  • Maintain and audit data transfers between internal systems.

  • Maintain and audit data transfers between internal systems and with our external business partners.

  • Occasional night and weekend work required.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in application support.

  • Android device management and configuration background

  • Experience with MDM solutions for managing Android devices. Familiarity with SOTI a plus.

  • Moderate to advanced Powershell scripting skills

  • Strong background with Microsoft SQL programing and SSIS

  • Active Directory user, computer, and Group Policy management. A deeper understanding of Active Directory Administration is a plus.

  • POS hardware peripheral configurations

  • Experience working with Java based systems

  • Basic to intermediate experience with Tomcat

  • Basic to intermediate experience with VMWare

  • Intermediate Networking

  • Background with Windows server and desktop Operating Systems

  • Experience in configuration and design of Sharepoint Online a plus

  • ITIL Foundation certification a plus

  • Experience with IT management frameworks and standards (ie. CIS Controls, NIST, ISO) a plus

  • Experience with CIS Hardening Standards preferred

  • Passionate commitment to outstanding customer service.

  • Communicates effectively, written and verbal, across all departments.

  • Ability to problem solve demonstrating a high level of creativity and innovation.

  • Patience and willingness to provide technical support to both technical and non-technical parties.
