Alliance For Sustainable Energy LLC Researcher III - Electrical Engineering in Golden, Colorado

Job Description: Research, design, develop, test, or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, or scientific use. Work on multiple research projects assisting Principal Investigators on lab testing of commercial inverters and batteries, develop test beds for long term experiments. Process experimental lab data, model and test power converters, other electrical electronic circuitry, and detailed modeling of power converters. Lead subtasks within projects and is expected to contribute to development of research proposals. Test commercial and residential inverters, Photovoltaic simulators, grid simulators, load banks, batteries / battery emulators. Expertly operate data acquisition devices such as oscilloscopes and power analyzers. Prepare presentation materials and reports and present results to both direct customers and the research community. Design power converter and layout of printed circuit boards. Detailed modeling of power converters for power converter reliability. Remote work possible 1 to 2 days a week. Must be in local area as the majority of lab work requires employee to be onsite.

Job Requirements: Requires a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. 3 years of experience in any Electrical Engineering position or related occupation is required with a Master's degree or 5 years of experience in any Electrical Engineering position or related occupation is required with a Bachelor's degree. Must have some education or experience in each of the following skills: Developing test beds for residential and commercial inverters for pure hardware, controller hardware in the loop, and power hardware in the loop test setups; Developing test beds for testing of experimental medium voltage power converter prototypes; Programming and handling Photovoltaic simulators, grid simulators, load banks, batteries / battery emulators, and thermal chambers; Handling of data acquisition devices such as oscilloscopes and power analyzer; Design and modeling of power converters with focus on power converter reliability; Design and fabrication of printed circuit boards for power converters; Modeling software including PLECS, SIMULINK, PSCAD, OPAL-RT, and RTDS; and Programming languages including Python, C, C++, and MATLAB.
