We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Surface Specialist in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management – Enhanced Oil Recovery (ORCM EOR), Business Unit based in North Cowden, Texas.

 

The Surface Specialist will help provide support to our Surface Leads and Surface Asset Manager.  The successful individual will help lead safety, production assurance, compression, and long-term improvement field activities in EOR Waterflood and mentor less seasoned team members. 

 Additional roles and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

 Roles and Responsibilities:

Safety:

Be a safety leader for the EOR Waterflood area.

Participate/Contribute in all safety meetings. (Including stand downs)

Required to take an active role in contractor field assessments.

 

Production Assurance:

Quality check well test data compared to actual production.

Work with Maintenance & Construction Leads to ensure Oxy owned equipment is charged out correctly.

Cost tracking of rental equipment costs.

Works with the Construction Specialist for equipment setup and tear down.

 

Compression:

Be a leader in compression operations.

Troubleshoot compression and pipeline issues.

Be a leader in pipeline operations.

Help with reporting compression down time.

 

High Level Troubleshooting:

Assist where needed with facility troubleshooting.

Assist where needed with well troubleshooting.

 

Mentoring:

Provide leadership for Production Techs and operators.

Mentor and train less seasoned team members.

 

Long-Term Improvement Initiatives:

Field of the Future – identification of opportunities to deploy technology and automation to improve efficiency.

Alarm rationalization.

Development of remote operations capabilities, workflows, and processes.

 

Emissions

Support emissions reduction efforts, troubleshooting, recordkeeping, etc.

 

Surface Leader

Provide work coverage for Surface Leads when needed.

Production Reporting

Assist Surface Leads with various projects for the EOR Waterflood asset

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Competencies:

Education:

Minimum High School diploma plus 5 years of experience. 

Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Skills & Competencies:

Demonstrated strong leadership qualities and competencies

Demonstrates and promotes HSE and regulatory awareness and compliance 

Strong business background and in-depth understanding of key financial measures 

Demonstrated ability to align Permian EOR Waterflood strategy with Corporate strategies and goals

Demonstrated ability to build/maintain team cohesiveness, effectively motivate, coach and mentor team members

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other teams or departments

Excellent interpersonal skills

Working knowledge of downhole processes and equipment

Effective communication skills (written and verbal)

Demonstrated initiative to assist other teams and team leaders in better utilizing best practices, resources and alliances across the Company

Strong, proven analytical skills and problem solving skills.

Relocation: This position is not eligible for relocation.
