Job Summary:

Raytheon Advanced Products & Solutions (APS) is seeking a business development professional to lead Requirements & Capabilities (R&C) for the Space, Imaging and Microelectronics (SIM) business. SIM develops and delivers world class high performing imaging sensors, space components and turnkey small satellites supporting critical national defense & civil missions. Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS), SEAKR Engineering, Blue Canyon Technologies and Sensors Unlimited are all part of the SIM business.

We are seeking a Director of Requirements & Capabilities (R&C) to serve on the Leadership Team of the SIM organization, lead a team of R&C professionals, incubate a robust business pipeline, drive an overarching business strategy / growth trajectory, and lead customer engagements resulting in tangible and measurable business growth. This position will be primarily supporting businesses located in Goleta, CA, Denver (area), CO and Princeton, New Jersey with frequent travel expected.

The position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule. Significant onsite presence is expected in Goleta, Denver sites (Aurora / Boulder) and New Jersey sites.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develop strategic plans to advance business area objectives and promote revenue and profitability (measured via new contract awards / bookings). Lead, develop, and implement strategies for generating new customers in both domestic and international markets. Provide warfighter perspective and operational briefings from OA (Operational Analysis) and M&S (Modeling & Simulation) SME (Subject Matter Expert) material.

  • Develop annual business plans for current year and 5-year outlooks. Develop and refine and update business cases. Manage capture gating process including chairing gate decisions for executive leadership.

  • Develop overarching SIM business product and services capture plans, lead capture activities. Develop capture win strategies.

  • Manage New Business Investment (Marketing and Bid & Proposal Budgets), expenditure, and prioritization.

  • Develop, maintain, and leverage existing relationships with key customers, decision makers, and acquisition officials. Develop and maintain competitive intelligence and competitive landscape understanding to inform business development and capture efforts. Prepare and deliver written and oral briefs to customers and senior executives.

  • Participate in IRAD process to align investment with business goals. Enter and manage opportunities and capture efforts within CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database.

  • Evaluate new technologies and industry trends from a SME and warfighter perspective. Provide warfighter perspective and input to engineering and technical experts to fulfill customer expectations, increase program success, capture new programs, and expand business.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively direct, influence, motivate and supervise team members across a diverse set of technology and product development cultures and across geographic locations.

  • Travel is expected up to 50% domestic with occasional international travel

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 14 years’ experience or an Advanced Degree and a minimum of 12 years’ experience

  • Capture effort coordination and developing proposals to obtain funding, spanning technical proposal development, work breakdown structures and cost estimation

  • Minimum 8 years experience working in new business capture, proposal development, technology evaluation, and technical contribution, with a record of contract wins

  • Experience leading and/or roles of significant responsibility on proposals for contracts > $50M

  • Experience in interacting and engaging with senior USG officials/customers and executive leadership in Industry

  • Existing active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Top Secret \ SCI security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Existing clearance preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 20 years of experience in the aerospace industry

  • Experience and professional network with the relevant USG customers (Space Development Agency, Intelligence Community), DoD Space Primes (LM, NG, L3H, BA) and Commercial Space Primes.

  • Minimum of 1 symposium presentation or publication, or technology group leadership within last 10 years

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance

The salary range for this role is 188,000 USD - 378,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
