We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with significant potential to excel as a Junior Commodity Manager within Siemens Mobility’s Rolling Stock business. In this role, you will oversee the procurement and management of mechanical parts essential to our Rolling Stock operations. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the efficient and cost-effective sourcing, purchasing, and supply of these commodities, working alongside a collaborative, multi-functional team. As part of our expert global logistics and procurement function, you will be surrounded by the expertise and inspiration needed to develop and advance your career within this role and beyond.

You’ll make an impact by

  • Identifying and selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure high-quality and cost-effective commodities.

  • Conducting market research and analysing commodity trends to forecast future needs and develop sourcing strategies.

  • Evaluating supplier performance, addressing issues, and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monitoring and controlling procurement costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing cost reduction strategies.

  • Managing inventory levels to meet production needs, coordinating with inventory and production teams, and reducing holding costs.

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, and developing contingency plans.

  • Collaborating with various departments to align procurement activities with business goals and communicating market changes effectively.

  • Promoting sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, ensuring suppliers adhere to environmental and social responsibility standards.

Your success will be grounded by

  • Holding a bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or another related field.

  • Strong analytical abilities proven in education and some experience from within the business environment.

  • Basic negotiation skills to assist in securing favourable terms and conditions with suppliers.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues, and suppliers.

  • High attention to detail to management procurement processes accurately whilst ensuring compliance with Siemens policies.

  • Technical proficiency with inventory management software is advantageous, as well as strong skills with MS packages.
