The primary function of the Finisher is to work as part of the crew in completing a construction project in a timely manner with good quality. Additionally, our Finisher must be well versed in all the necessary elements of the construction project assigned.

DEFINITION:

This is skilled work at the craftsmen level in the installation of drywall while following all applicable safety rules and regulations.

An employee occupying a position in this job classification is proficient in all aspects of finishing and hanging drywall. Work includes preparing the surface and applying the finishing materials to be turned over to the painters or other similar craftsmen for project completion. Duties may also include training and leading team members in hanging, preparing and finishing drywall.

Duties are normally performed under the supervision of a lead mechanic or a foreman. All work will be expected to meet KENPAT quality and quantity standards.

Requirements

The following examples of work are typical of those normally performed by a Finisher

  1. Checks that the job site conforms to all safety rules and regulations of KENPAT

and OSHA.

  1. Anticipates material and equipment needs and other problems and reacts to them

with recommended solutions.

  1. Performs finishing work on drywall and completes for painters or other craftsmen.

  2. Erects and dismantles scaffolds in accordance with project and OSHA specifications.

  3. Mixes and prepares materials for drywall seams and separations.

  4. Cleans finishing materials from the project.

  5. Corrects deficiencies and resolves punch lists, including any necessary framing and hanging work.

  6. Hangs drywall true and level at all openings.

  7. Assigns work to team members and gives instructions for the proper completion of the assigned tasks.

  8. Installs all beads (true, plumb, square and level).

  9. Inspects work while in progress to assure quality and quantity.

  10. Hangs drywall, tops out, fire tapes and insulates.

  11. Checks materials for the project and assures that they are properly accounted for and stored.

  12. Trains team members in hanging, finishing and related skills.

  13. Inspects scaffolding to ensure correct assembly and use.

  14. Checks frames for true, plumb, square and level.

  15. Performs any related work that may be required and/or instructed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of KENPAT and OSHA safety rules and regulations and ability to alert others to hazards.

  2. All knowledge, skills and abilities as Drywall Hanger/Framer (Mechanic I) plus the following:

a. Skill to the level of drywall hanger/finisher.

b. Knowledge of mechanical finishing syste s.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
