The Job:

In technical support you will not be bored: apart from having very exciting questions from researchers that will challenge your mind and scientific knowledge, the job often requires you to work well with many different departments and colleagues to solve inquiries. You’ll show your skills as creative and flexible every day, looking for fast and effective solutions.

At the same time, it is important to keep on learning, to share experience and knowledge with other co-workers and be always aware of new products and solutions.

We are looking for candidates in multiple locations (Carlsbad, CA or Grand Island, NY). The Technical Applications Scientist role is office-based and requires on site presence. Technical Application Scientists are sharing the expertise and technological advancements with researchers, helping them in making the world a better place—whether they’re discovering a cure for cancer, protecting the environment or making sure our food is safe. The job is all about the customer and providing help and guidance. A satisfied customer with positive feedback for the support you have provided is worth more than anything else and ultimately a validation for the quality of your work. You will be supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific products to both internal and external customers.

What will you do:

  • Provide technical support for Thermo Fisher Scientific Chemical product lines and services by answering customer technical inquiries received via telephone, email or web chat.

  • Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in Customer Relationship Management system.

  • Participate in frequent training on products and continuing education on new applications and technologies and present technical updates to colleagues during trainings or department meetings.

  • Recommend and implement improvements in processes, FAQ and technical information.

  • Participate in additional special team or individual projects.

Education and competencies required:

• A Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a similar field is preferred, Bachelors degree required

• 2+ years laboratory experience

• Effective communication, both written and oral

• Customer centric attitude

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $70,000.00–$88,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
