Job Description Summary
The Development Quality Assurance Engineer conducts independent assessment of engineering compliance to systems, rules, and processes to ensure fulfillment of internal and external requirements. Ensures that projects and products are capable and will meet applicable standards and requirements (Preventive). Comprehensive in-depth understanding of industry and regulatory requirements, standards, and practices in avionics systems, software, and hardware.
Job Description
The Lead DQA Engineer is responsible for providing independent assurance that internal and external requirements (including governmental, industrial, and contractual) as applicable to development are met.
In addition, the Lead DQA Engineer will:
Assure that products developed by GE Aviation are the result of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout the product lifecycle
Conduct assessments / audits of engineering development activities to gauge compliance with applicable regulatory, industrial, and company standards
Review technical documentation with a view to Quality and Compliance requirements
Generate Quality Assurance plans and work instructions for execution of Quality Assurance functions
Serve as domain expert with regard to understanding and applying aviation standards including, but not limited to:
RTCA / DO-178C
RTCA / DO-254
RTCA / DO-297
SAE ARP4754A
Provide regular and thorough status reports and data to leadership
Provide expert advice on alternative approaches to compliance requirement, when appropriate
Ensure Quality records are maintained, metrics collected, and reports given back to the business
Evaluate, develop, and publish quality metrics and audit results to the project team and stakeholders
Interface with, and provide support to, regulatory authorities, customer representatives, and supplier representatives
Conduct training to quality processes as needed
Conduct root cause / corrective action investigations using appropriate procedures 49512-1934
Generate and maintain objective evidence of assessment activities for customer and regulatory review
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in quality)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, quality or process assurance/compliance
