Zonderkidz, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, is seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team and support our mission of inspiring young lives. The Marketing Manager for the Zonderkidz marketing team is a strategic and tactical leader responsible for managing book campaigns, digital marketing including Amazon and social media paid marketing, and managing a social media firm. Our portfolio of book products for children ages 0-18 includes titles from a broad range of authors including Sally Lloyd-Jones, Glenys Nellist, Taraji P. Henson, Linsey Davis, Alison Gervais, Jenni Walsh, and many other leading communicators, as well as bestselling brands such as The Beginner’s Bible, The Jesus Storybook Bible, The Berenstain Bears, and Fiona the Hippo. This role will interact regularly with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Marketing:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, plans, develops, and executes marketing strategies for individual book titles including marketing positioning, consumer messaging, media planning and buying, social media strategy, traditional and digital marketing to targeted audiences.

  • Regularly report on title marketing and publicity efforts to sales team.

  • Manage social media firm, working alongside them to develop strategy and execution for Zonderkidz channels. Evaluate and communicate performance measures of social media channels.

  • Develop and execute paid and organic digital marketing campaigns for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Google, and YouTube. Identify online media outlets, execute media buy, setup target audiences, budgets, and bids. Monitor and optimize paid ads and make real-time adjustments. Experience with Google Ad Words and Google Analytics preferred.

  • Amazon marketing. Create and monitor sponsored ad campaigns, Amazon stores for Zonderkidz, and work with designer to create additional graphics for product pages.

  • Extract, assess, and communicate performance measures of marketing campaign effectiveness across digital and traditional marketing platforms, and sales channels. Regularly report to leadership.

  • Provide direction for and manage lifestyle photography and marketing video shoots for products to be used for online retail and marketing execution.

  • In cooperation with marketing team, develop book marketing landing pages for select titles.

  • Work with the CRM/email Marketing team to understand participant data in SailThru to improve retention and drive new registrations.

  • Work with supervisor on marketing execution for our brands, including The Beginner’s Bible, The Jesus Storybook Bible, The Berenstain Bears, Fiona the Hippo, The Adventure Bible and more.

  • Assist supervisor in tracking metrics of marketing tactics, weekly and monthly reporting to department leaders.

  • Continuously strive to make our Zonderkidz marketing program more effective and deliver a strong ROI.

  • Works with authors to create landing pages for their books

General Administration:

  • Processes, manages, and tracks invoices through internal cost systems. Monitors process, progress, and results.

  • Assist in convention and events marketing plans and needs and in advanced reader copy orders and mailings.

  • Ensures marketing assets are made available to sales through internal repository.

  • Submit deal announcements to appropriate media outlets, written in coordination with editors.

Qualifications

Knowledge: Solid understanding of marketing and consumer behavior principles. Experience with digital marketing practices, and foundations.

Work Experience: 5+ years of general marketing, digital marketing, public relations, or marketing/public relations/ad agency experience.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications, digital communications, or related discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Required: Background in marketing or marketing related field.

Preferred: Experience in crafting and executing digital marketing campaigns. Some familiarity with book publishing, preferred. Insight into children’s market consumer purchasing behavior a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in knowledge and use of English grammar.

  • Solid understanding of marketing and consumer behavior principles. Familiarity with digital marketing practices, metadata application, and project management.

  • Proven project management and organizing skills. Able to coordinate multifaceted projects and deliver them on schedule. Attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to apply tact and diplomacy.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) with advanced skill in Excel

  • Basic level graphic design skills preferred; Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite design experience a plus.

  • Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest)

  • Experience with Google Ad Words and Google Analytics
