SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the President of the College, the Vice President for People, Culture, and Equity will provide college-wide strategic, proactive, and innovative leadership that leads to the creation and implementation of a culture that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Grand Rapids Community College. Through collaboration, the Vice President is responsible for driving transformational change that ensures that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are integrated into all aspects of the institution that fosters student success, employee well-being, and community vibrancy and growth. The Vice President will directly oversee the Office of Human Resources and Talent Development and the Office of Equal Opportunity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership and Strategy

• Provide strategic leadership to the Office of Human Resources and Talent Development and the Office of Equal Opportunity which includes responsibilities for Title IX, Equal Opportunity Compliance, and investigations. • Provide strategic oversight and support in preparation for collective bargaining with the four unions on campus, including the delegation of data collection, and support of the future vision for each employee group. • Provide supervision to the Executive Director of Human Resources and Talent Development, Director of Equal Opportunity Compliance and Support Staff. • Provide overall strategic leadership and guidance for talent acquisition, career development, progression and succession planning, retention, professional and leadership development, compensation, and benefits. • Provide feedback and guidance to Executive Leadership regarding complex issues including; human resources, organizational change and development efforts, as well as equity, inclusion, and belonging. • Serve as a member of the President's Executive Leadership Team and Cabinet.

Equity and Inclusion

• Lead the development and implementation of a collaborative vision and strategy for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at the college. • Collaborate with Executive Leadership and established councils and committees to develop and implement policies, processes, and practices that foster diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. • Establish and facilitate the College's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council comprised of college employees and students. • Direct responsibility for the College's annual GIANTS Awards. • Work collaboratively with the Woodrick Center for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to plan and implement college-wide programs including, but not limited to: the Annual Diversity Lecture Services, the Latino Youth Conference, the African-American Male Achievement Conference, the Salute to Women Awards, etc. • Ensures the college meets its commitment to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity, and maintains an environment that is both free of discrimination and supportive of an inclusive, multicultural, and equitable learning and working environment.

• Remain current on issues, policies, and legislation related to human resources/employment, equal opportunity, Title IX, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work. • Remain current on demographic trends and emerging communities within the college's service area and surrounding communit
