Job Summary
The Nursing Laboratory Coordinator plays avital role in the education and support of nursing students. This individual is responsible for preparing, monitoring, and maintaining the nursing labs and materials to provide a well-supplied, safe learning environment. The Nursing Lab Coordinator monitors, researches, negotiates, and initiates the purchase of consumables within departmental budgetary constraints. They assist with capital equipment purchases. The Nursing Lab Coordinator assists both students and faculty by providing the resources needed to support student skill and theory development and serves as a resource person for the students throughout their nursing education. This position will assist with the coordination of the nursing labs at all three campuses. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Nursing.

Required Qualification(s)
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Current certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN ), Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ) or Medial Assistant (MA) in Illinois or the equivalent from another state
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience including include Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN ), Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ), Medial Assistant (MA) or Registered Nurse (RN).
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and multi-task.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities/ demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Must be able to see with corrective eye wear, hear clearly with assistance, may be required to wear protective equipment as necessary and have the ability to handle emergency or crisis situations. May be in contact with students under a variety of circumstances.
Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, lift 0-50 lbs., carry 0-50 lbs., and push 0-300 lbs frequently. Able to occasionally squat, climb, kneel, twist, lift 50+ lbs., and carry 50+ lbs.
Desired Qualification(s)
Recent experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a hospital.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Summary of Essential Functions
Student and Customer Service (55%)
Serves as a support staff member and key resource person for nursing faculty and students throughout each semester.
Maintains an organized, clean and effective learning environment in the on-campus nursing lab for faculty and nursing students.
Supports the nursing assistant program, faculty, and students in other areas as requested.
Oversees and assists with training student workers in the nursing department.
Project and Process Management (40%)
Assigns, organizes, prepares, and maintains all necessary equipment and supplies for scheduled and unscheduled nursing labs.
Monitors, obtains quotes, negotiates with vendors, and maintains consumable nursing supplies needed for student and lab classroom use at the request of the Director of Nursing Education
Recommends, obtains quotes, and negotiates with vendors for the purchase of capital equipment for the nursing department at the request of the Director of Nursing Education.
Monitors departmental budgetary expenditures for capital and consumable materials for the nursing department.
Develops, maintains, and reviews nursing lab safety guidelines.
Monitors usage of labs and arranges for repair of equipment.
Schedules and coordinates room usage for classes, meetings, and individual student practice time and student observations.
Maintains and updates records of equipment and supply needs for each nursing class.
Other (5%)
Participate on committees and task forces and attend events or programs that support student and employee success.
Participate in professional associations, educational and learning activities that enhance position-related competencies, knowledge, and skills.
