Berkshire Co-op Market* Caf Team Member in Great Barrington, Massachusetts
Job Responsibilities Specific responsibilities to the Caf? Team Member position include but are not limited to: I. Customer Service - Work effectively with customers, vendors and team members in a high volume setting and provide an outstanding ability to listen and communicate efficiently - Practices a total store approach to customer service, responds promptly to customer service questions and needs - Is educated about BFC products and is familiar with the store layout; providing customers with direction of where to locate specific items, utilizes communication methods (walkie, phone, etc.) when the answer is unknown; offers suggestions for product substitutions when stock is low or out - Actively listens to customer complaints, seeking to understand problem/concern/complaint; brings issues to supervisors, management and Persons in Charge as needed - Educate customers in product selection and nutritional information; makes recommendations for the perfect meal - Accept order requests and inquire if the customer has any dietary restrictions; require proof of payment before handing off order - Follows Fresh Foods return policy when customer is requesting a refund, replacement product and/or store credit - Providing feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process II. Product Production - Follows established BFC cafe recipes and production techniques to ensure high productivity - Complies with Co-op standards of operation and production procedures, as well as those of all applicable regulatory agencies, and ensures on a daily basis that all products are prepared and presented in accordance with Co-op standards - Follows all store and department systems, SOPs and guidelines - Prepares quality sandwiches/wraps and beverages, and maintains the order and cleanliness of the department - Maintains inventories by replenishing smoothie/juice bar ingredients, coffee beans and supplies - Assists in the daily opening and closing procedures (dependant on scheduled hours), inventory preparation, display and control; aid in training entry level team members as assigned by Fresh Foods leadership - Maintain and perform the daily operations of the Cafe Department; perform food preparation or service tasks such as washing product, cooking, serving food and drinks, and other tasks as assigned by the Fresh Foods Manager or Cafe Assistant Manager III. Merchandising - Ensure that deli displays are regularly replenished and rotated according to current pars and inventory - Provide product information for newsletters, promotions, social media, and customer inquiries - Keep food prep, storage, and display areas maintained and in a clean, orderly condition meeting health department and BFC standards; all menu items must be labeled with ingredients and date produced IV. Department Maintenance - Ensures department, displays, prep, and storage areas are clean and orderly condition; participate in and follow the established department cleaning schedule - Offer suggestions that may determine ways to improve service, performance, and/or safety - Practices safe food handling, and are compliant with health department regulations such as proper temperatures, hair restraints, eating and drinking in working areas, glove use, etc. Qualifications / Skills - 1+ years food service experience - Driver\'s License (to daily pick up fresh bagels) - Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication and organization skills - Strong customer service skills - A strong love of food - Ability to follow instructions, procedures and established recipes - Ability to perform basic math - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
