Berkshire Food Co-op (\"BFC\") Meat & Seafood Team Members are the public face of the Co-op, providing friendly customer service while aiding the Meat & Seafood department. They answer customer questions while maintaining department displays and have a working knowledge of meat & seafood products and the BFC Food Policy. They are committed to excellence in retail and service standards, ensuring smooth, safe and efficient operations, and curating an exceptional customer experience. They work to achieve the collective goals of the organization and support the Ends, Vision, Culture and Values of the Co-op. Job Responsibilities Specific responsibilities to the Meat & Seafood Team Member position include but are not limited to: Merchandising / Product Production - Display fresh meats and seafood to give impression of variety and quality, while maintaining proper storage conditions; maintain attractive, fully stocked and rotated (and faced, where applicable) sections - Ensure that coolers and displays are regularly replenished and rotated according to current pars and inventory; follows the first-in-first-out (FIFO) rotation procedure and departmental & store standards of display production and maintenance - Checks temperatures for all department displays and coolers to ensure quality/product freshness and health standards - Check for damage and unacceptable quality, follow established return procedures - Help set up and maintain seasonal displays - Label items accurately with price tags or signs; work with department manager, Scan Coordinator and IT Systems Supervisor to ensure accurate, up-to-date prices are reflected on all tags and signage - Works with the department manager to price meat & seafood to achieve margin and sales goals, while maintaining a competitive image. Mark down items as needed to reduce losses - Complies with departmental standards of operation and production procedures, as well as those of all applicable regulatory agencies, and ensures on a daily basis that products are stocked and displayed in accordance with departmental standards - Receives product deliveries, following established receiving procedures Customer Service - Practices a total store approach to customer service, responds promptly to customer service questions and needs; makes product suggestions and shares recipe ideas, as well as preparing / cooking recommendations - Is always friendly, greets and acknowledges customers with a welcoming attitude - Is educated about meat and seafood products, the BFC Food Policy, and is familiar with the store layout; provides customers with direction of where to locate specific items, utilizes communication methods (walkie, phone, etc.) when the answer is unknown - Actively listens to customer complaints, seeking to understand problem/concern/complaint; brings customer issues and suggestions to supervisors, management and Persons in Charge as needed - Assists customers with placing special orders - Educate customers in product selection and nutritional information - Responds to radio calls for price accuracy and department-related questions - Receives and answers telephone calls, directs the call to the appropriate contact
