SUMMARY:

Applies learned and trained knowledge and abilities in professional casework under the direct supervision and oversight of identified Child Welfare staff. Provides ongoing child protective services to families with open cases including case management, ongoing safety management and treatment planning with the primary goal to strengthen the ability of families to protect and care for their own child/youth, prevent continued and future involvement with the child welfare system and ensure permanency planning. Promotes safety, permanency, and well-being for the child/youth with a family plan that contains clear objectives, action steps and outcomes to facilitate reunification and the prevention of future out of home placement or ongoing child protection involvement.

This Entry Level position is not exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Journey Level and Senior Level positions are exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

As an applicant for this position, you should be aware of Senate Bill 19-085, the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The act requires employers to announce the pay range for job openings. This range encompasses the nine pay steps available should you receive the position and demonstrate satisfactory performance over time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the above captioned position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Entry Level: A training level position with intensive supervision and/or coaching by the County Department in which assignments are limited to 50% of the county s average caseload or ten (10) assessments/cases at any given time, whichever is less, are planned and devised to develop and teach professional social casework techniques, basic foundations, and concepts appropriate to the assigned areas.

Journey Level: A novice level position with intensive supervision and/or coaching by the County Department. Caseload will gradually increase throughout a twelve (12) month period and will be capped to 75% of the county s average caseload or fourteen (14) assessments/cases at any given time, whichever is less. Trainings plans are devised to develop and teach professional social casework techniques, basic foundations, and concepts appropriate to the assigned areas.

Senior Level: A tenured level position with supervision and/or coaching by the County Department. Carries a full caseload and may train new workers.

Assessment & Case Management (70%):

Provides professional ongoing case management where the primary concern in the home is the youth s behaviors and how they are impacting the family by working with family and other professionals to develop and modify treatment plans that address the safety and risk issues identified during the intake assessment.

Accesses safety, permanency, and well-being through monthly face to face contacts and engagement with child/youth, parents, and caregivers.

Provides immediate crisis management and child welfare services to youth/children remaining in home including emergency referrals to community resources.

Monitors and assists the family in identifying nd eliminating barriers to case and/or treatment plan progress and timely permanency.

Promotes and advocates for achieving permanency with parents or with relatives or through adoption within twelve (12) months of the case opening.
