JOB REQUIREMENTS: HOME EVERY NIGHT/VERY SELDOM OVER NIGHT WORK Job Description: Electrical Journeyman Position Title: Electrical Journeyman Department: Electrical Type: DIRECT HIRE Location: Madison & GreenBay Opening Employment Type: Full-Time Salary Range: Based on Experience Job Overview: The Electrical Journeyman is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, codes, and safety protocols. The Electrical Journeyman works under limited supervision, often leading a team of apprentices and ensuring that all work complies with local and national electrical codes. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Installation: o Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, switches, and fixtures in accordance with blueprints, technical diagrams, and specifications. o Install conduits, pipes, and tubing for electrical cables and wiring. o Set up electrical panels, control systems, and motor controls. Troubleshooting and Repairs: o Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, such as short circuits, faulty wiring, and electrical equipment malfunctions. o Repair or replace defective components, such as breakers, fuses, and wiring. o Test electrical systems using tools like voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters to ensure functionality and safety. Project Oversight: o Lead a team of apprentices or laborers to complete electrical projects on time and within budget. o Review blueprints and technical diagrams to ensure all work meets project specifications and standards. o Coordinate with site supervisors, general contractors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow. Safety and Compliance: o Follow all OSHA safety regulations and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards while working on electrical systems. o Ensure work areas are safe and hazard-free by using proper lockout/tagout procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). o Identify potential safety hazards and report them to supervisors or resolve them immediately. Maintenance & Upkeep: o Perform routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and safety. o Keep accurate records of repairs, installations, and maintenance work performed. o Ensure that all electrical installations are completed with high-quality workmanship and attention to detail. Qualifications and Skills: Experience: o Experience as an electrical journeyman or similar role. o Proven experience in commercial, residential, or industrial electrical installations and repairs. Knowledge & Skills: o Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, conduit installation, and electrical components. o Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes. o Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams. Tools and Equipment: o Proficient in using hand and power tools such as wire strippers, voltmeters, conduit benders, drills, and testers. o Experience with specialized electrical equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and generators. Leadership: o Ability to supervise and mentor apprentices or other team members. o Strong time management and organizational skills to complete tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines. Communication: o Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, supervisors, and clients. o Ability to explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical clients or team members. Physical Requirements: o Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and bending for extended periods. o Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoors, in all weather conditions.
