About the position:
The Strategic Welding Manufacturing Engineer is a critical position within the corporate manufacturing ecosystem. This role is considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) focusing on technical mastery, team empowerment, problem-solving, and strategic alignment. The Weld Engineer collaborates closely with the Strategic Manufacturing Engineering Manager to drive operational excellence and innovation. In this role you will:
- Manage complex projects and programs by providing ownership and responsibility of key manufacturing improvement initiatives.
- Provide necessary expertise to assist as appropriate effective troubleshooting and resolution to extreme manufacturing interruptions.
- Identify and install key manufacturing processes or enhancements, identify new or alternate manufacturing technologies to increase the factory's cost effectiveness (cost reduction, modernization, ergonomic and quality improvements)
- Provide consultation, direction and mentoring to less experienced manufacturing engineering staff or contractors.
- Work on an interdisciplinary basis to lead or participate in projects or programs that require cross-functional expertise.
- Lead complex and extensive studies of operations, make recommendations for additional machine tools, material handling equipment and deploy layouts and plans to implement the changes.
- Establish the more complex manufacturing processes and work with outside suppliers to design, approve, build and tryout tooling/processes for new and existing products.
- Provide technical direction and expertise to project team members and management.
- Supervise contractors – when and if required.
- Identify and implement improvements in corporate business processes and work instructions.

Problem Solving:
Root Cause Analysis: When critical issues arise, the Welding Engineer SME dives into root causes. They apply TPS tools, statistical methods, and practical experience to troubleshoot and provide guidance when needed.
Immediate Responders: During crises, they act swiftly to help the Engineering and Maintenance groups to resolve and minimize disruptions.
Innovation:
Process Enhancements: The Welding Engineer SME champions process improvements with the Manufacturing Engineer. They identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and optimize resource utilization.
Bridging Worlds:
Effective Communication: They translate technical complexities into actionable insights for executives.
Recurrent Sessions: Establishes means to share and engage frequently with stakeholders to ensure alignment and share progress of projects and needs.
Strategic Alignment:
Visionary Thinking: The Welding Engineer SME aligns their team’s efforts with the organization’s strategic vision. They anticipate industry trends, adapt to Industry 4.0, and prioritize sustainability.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials or Welding Engineering
- 5+ years of professional working experience in Mechanical, Materials or Welding Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with a variety of welding techniques including: MIG, Pulsed-Arc and Robotic
- Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
- Understands New Product Introduction processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical aptitude, analytical problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strategic, creative, positive attitude, team-oriented, self-motivated, and critical thinker.
- Ability to constructively interface with all levels of the organization.

About the total compensation package:
Salary - $109,800 - $131,600 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education, skill and experience.
Relocation – This position may qualify for relocation.
