About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

The open position is for a Program Management Office (PMO) Analyst for Emerging Technologies Programs (EmT). The business analyst will be required to cover a variety of responsibilities that cross PMO functions but will have primary responsibilities to execute daily tactical project management tasks overseeing program schedules and reporting status for EmT projects and programs.

The job provides the opportunity for frequent interaction with external vendors, Project Team leadership, and various Corporate Support groups, which necessitates strong communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hands-on and required to work closely with Project Track Managers, PMO Analysts, team leads and third-party partners

  • Developing and distributing Program Status Report

  • Presenting schedule activities, status and results with project leadership

  • Working with various departments to confirm proper funding for invoices and developing change requests for purchase orders and invoices

  • Supporting analysis of vendor contracts for EmT Programs

  • Implementing baseline changes into schedules by collaborating with applicable Project Track Managers and other stakeholders.

  • Applying scheduling best practices to develop and maintain program schedules

  • Identifying, developing and implementing processes improving scheduling and coordination efforts

  • Recording, updating and communicating Risk, Issue, & Change Request

  • Deliverable tracking, approval, and document management

Qualifications include:

  • Four-year degree in a related discipline along with 4 years of relevant work experience is required. In lieu of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience will be considered.

  • Relevant experience includes identifying and acting on process improvements, analyzing, and projecting required work, monitoring requirements to completion, data reporting, analysis, and an in-depth understanding of the relevant subject matter

  • Project management background understanding project management processes

  • Experience creating and managing project schedules, Gantt charts, and dependencies

  • Know-how to perform critical path analysis of schedules

  • Ability to develop fully networked schedules using predecessors and successors along with effective activity duration affording progress measurement

  • Outstanding reporting skills, e.g. graphical presentation, advanced Microsoft Excel skills (charts, pivot tables)

  • Attention to detail coupled with effective analytical and problem-solving aptitude

  • Ability to establish working relations at all organizational levels and demonstrate ability to diplomatically and effectively deal with project team and stakeholders

  • Self-motivator with ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision or direction

  • Ability to balance and prioritize many diverse tasks at once

  • Experience in establishing new processes

  • Proven team player who contributes to team goals and encourages/supports other team members.

  • Demonstrates a questioning attitude with willingness and propensity for continual growth, willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, and ability to adapt and change quickly.

  • Delivers quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
