Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Job Summary: The Shipping & Receiving clerk is responsible for the performance of service and assistance supporting facility and customer operations. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible to perform manual and clerical work in the receiving, stocking and shipping of widely diversified supplies and equipment in a shipping / receiving setting, Responsible for assisting in the receiving, unpacking, stocking or delivering of any supplied, packages, mail and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives, process and check merchandise and verify the correctness of the shipment against the purchase order.

  • Prepares forms and maintains records, dealing with discrepancies damaged merchandise.

  • Prepare shipments for return to vendors, delivers shipments to recipients and picks up shipments from departments that need to be returned.

  • Regular contact with departmental personnel regarding the status of ordered merchandise for the delivering and picking up merchandise.

  • Regular contact with the vendors and delivery drivers regarding shipment discrepancies.

  • Operate lifts, scales, hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment used in receiving and stocking activities .

  • Unload incoming shipments, check that the correct and complete order has been received, inventory or tag on all items of equipment, and make deliveries to the appropriate department or stocking locations. Prepare and mail proper paperwork and or call the vendor if there is a discrepancy.

  • Maintain proper level of copier supplies; toner, paper etc. Throughout the campus.

  • Receive work instruction from the supervisor and refer problems to the supervisor.

  • Record transactions with the SAP system.

  • Perform inventory cycle counts as necessary.

  • Perform housekeeping duties assigned to department, including 5S standards.

  • Be alert with regard to safety procedures, and hazards materials.

  • Ability to work overtime as requested by customer (additional evening hours and or weekends).

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Other areas of responsibility: Performs secondary duties as facility coordinator (conference facility, coordination, Mail room operations, courier services, printer services, scanning services, or switchboard operations).

Conference Facility Coordination Duties: coordinate services to assist the clients business units in the set - Up of tables, banners, decorations, etc. Manage conference rooms, conference, room, reservations, and conference, equipment, and deliveries.

Mail Room Operations Duties: receive, sort, distribute, and send both interoffice and USPS mail to all facilities within Michelin. Deliver incoming and interoffice mail to stations within facility process mail five days a week.

Courier Services Duties: operate courier vehicle. Pick up and drop off mail, packages, and correspondence between multiple locations. Assist with sorting other duties.

Printing/Postage Service Duties: Print/insert invoices and labels for invoices; print mainframe documents and reports; deliver reports to department mailboxes, post outgoing mail.

Scanning Services: Prepare documents for batching and scanning; scan, verify, and commit documents in filing system; support; support Logistics, Customer Services, Service Award and, Fleet Services requirements.

Switchboard Operations Duties: Answer all calls into Michelin North American Headquarters main number. Transfer calls to internal numbers and external Michelin locations.

Event Setup / Tear Down Duties: Assist with the arranging of tables, chairs, AV equipment, backdrops for largely attended events in and about the property, and off site.

Vehicle Shuttling Duties: When notified of required maintenance on EMCOR and Michelin vehicles transport them to appropriate service provider for maintenance, washing, oil changes, tire rotation, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned in support of customer facility operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • 2 to 5 years; or equivalent education and training

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

  • Will have or acquire working knowledge of computers and software including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and UPS/FEDEX. Must be an average proficiency in computer skills.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneels, crouch, or crawl; talk, here, taste and smell. The employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds often. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus, determine full range of colors in work areas, drawings, and mapping. ability to move about commercial properties and construction sites, sometimes through tight passageways and corridors.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to moving mechanical parts and may work in high precarious places; the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; Outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee may work in an environment, where the following safety equipment are needed; steel toecap shoes, hearing protection, hardhats, eye protection, and hair protection. Abide by all safety guidelines, including OSHA regulations, lock-out/tag-out, etc. Work schedule can be affected by production, downtime and many other variables. Candidate should be extremely flexible with non-customary schedules and weekend work. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate or low.
