Position: Senior Residential Counselor
Program Assignment: Abilis Residential Program
Supervisor: Program Manager, Program Coordinator, or Supervising Counselor
Job Summary: As a Senior Residential Counselor, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our residential program, ensuring the well-being and development of the participants. Your responsibilities include providing care, managing household duties, overseeing health and safety, and complying with all relevant standards and procedures.
Schedule: Part-time or full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Schedules are set by the residence manager and primarily during programming hours. Overtime is based on resident needs, scheduling, and supervisor approval.
Essential Functions:
- Effectively communicate with participants.

``` - Maintain CPR and medication certifications

``` - Provide supervision and use adaptive equipment safely

``` - Implement program goals and manage behavioral issues

``` - Perform CPR and Heimlich maneuver if necessary

``` - Possess a valid drivers license and operate agency vehicles safely

``` - Lift up to 50 lbs.
Special Requirements:
- Demonstrate empathy and maturity in working with diverse individuals with disabilities

``` - Establish regular and transparent communication channels with families to keep them informed about the participants progress, challenges, and any updates regarding their program.

``` - Listen attentively to families' concerns, feedback, and insights

``` - Assist Supervising Counselor in direct care and goal implementation

``` - Complete required state training programs
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure residents' well-being by facilitating a supportive environment for personal growth. Assist in daily living skills, program implementation, and documentation.

``` - Perform tasks like grocery shopping, meal planning, light home repairs, and coordinating with co-workers.

``` - Monitor residents' health, manage medical appointments, and ensure proper medication use.

``` - Adhere to licensing standards and maintain necessary documentation.

``` - Provide clear information to residents and collaborate with staff, families, and external services.

``` - Promote positive interactions within the community.
```{=html}
``` - Complete required training and participate in development programs for licensure.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED. One year of human service work experience may substitute for education.
