Job Title: Sr. Principal Data Engineer Location: OH - Columbus What you'll do: Sr. Principal Data Engineer will be working with business and technology stakeholders in strategizing, planning, and implementing, supporting, and maintaining critical data applications based on the strategic and regulatory needs of Western Alliance Bank. What we are looking for: The selected candidate will need to: Lead and set up data pipeline for new and existing applications with built-in quality and compliance. Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to strategize and implement solutions. Develop ETL and data pipeline capabilities considering how data is created, transformed, maintained, stored, archived, analyzed, and shared across Western Alliance Bank and our partners. Lead/participate in testing, deployment, production support activities. Guide, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to team members and other data professionals on the company's standard development practice and guidelines. Create and maintain configuration workbooks, deployment plans, run books, and assist in the creation of training guides & process documentation for new functionality. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience in data management and/or data analytics 15+ years' experience with data engineering specifically in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and processes, enterprise data warehouse capabilities, database principles, and other related tools and technologies; preferably strong to expert in SSIS and Azure Data Factory Expert level understanding and experience in all data management related activities in MS SQL and Azure, including Data Modeling, Data Storage technologies, Data Retrieval and Query Optimization, Data Masking and Encryption as well as data administration. Expert in ETL Development SQL Server/T-SQL, setting up new ETL Pipelines and expertise in using and managing ETL platforms and tools. Strong understanding of Azure, Azure Data Engineering techniques and Azure DevOps Proficient in testing methodologies, change management and release processes and support activities, fulfilling Audit needs as well as infrastructure management. Proficient is setting up and maintain build and deployment pipelines and code management using Azure Dev ops or similar technology. Expert level experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data design and modeling. 5+ years' experience leading teams Experience in creating conceptual and logical architecture diagrams and data flow diagrams using design tools like Lucid Chart. Exposure to Object Oriented Programming using C#/Java Excellent analytical, communication (both verbal and written), facilitation/organizational skills. Demonstrated track record of defining, creating, building technology systems that lead to increased efficiency and productivity of the eco-systems. Strategic, innovative thinking and vision and willingness to learn, use, and explain new technology. Strong organization and time management skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in working with data feeds for AML Platforms like Actimize Good working knowledge integrating with data quality, data catalog and data lineage tools.
