Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Failure Analysis Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in Electric Vehicle (EV) car products to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in failure analysis methodologies, root cause investigation, and problem-solving techniques specific to EV car electronics manufacturing. They will play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and resolving product failures to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of our EV car products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and implementation of failure analysis strategies, processes, and methodologies for EV car electronic systems and components, from design through production.

  2. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of product failures, including electronic, mechanical, and materials-related issues, utilizing techniques such as fault isolation, microscopy, and electrical testing.

  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve customer complaints, field failures, and warranty claims related to EV car products, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

  4. Define and implement standardized failure analysis procedures, workflows, and documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy in the analysis and reporting of product failures.

  5. Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to obtain relevant information, samples, and data for failure analysis investigations, including coordinating material analysis and testing as needed.

  6. Document and communicate failure analysis findings, root causes, and corrective actions through written reports, presentations, and meetings with internal teams and customers.

  7. Provide technical support and expertise to engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to prevent recurring failures and improve product reliability and performance.

  8. Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on failure analysis insights, including design enhancements, process improvements, and supplier quality management actions.

  9. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in failure analysis for automotive electronics and EV car products and recommend and implement relevant improvements and enhancements.

  10. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for failure analysis and root cause investigation in automotive electronics manufacturing, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and automotive OEM specifications.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

  2. 8 years of experience required in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and EMS industry, with a focus on EV car products.

  3. Strong understanding of failure analysis methodologies, including non-destructive testing (NDT), destructive testing, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).

  4. Experience with failure analysis tools and techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray computed tomography (CT).

  5. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and develop effective corrective actions.

  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.

  7. Familiarity with automotive quality standards and regulations, including ISO 26262, AEC-Q100, and PPAP requirements.

  8. Proficiency in failure analysis software tools, data analysis techniques, and statistical methods.
