Naval Supply Systems Command TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Summary You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Personal Property Processing Office of NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Guantanamo Bay. The housing/utilities cost is not included for this position. This is a local hire sponsored position. Responsibilities You will compile shipping documents to finalize application for shipment or storage of personal property (e.g., signatures, counseling checklist, customs forms, pay adjustment authorizations). You will serve as point of contact for customers regarding personal property and goods shipment functions. You will respond to customer concerns (e.g., storage entitlement expiration, explanation of potential excess costs related to storage) to meet customer needs. You will enter data into automated transportation systems to track and manage shipments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Transportation Assistant. Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Drafting letters/ letters of designation, developing spreadsheets, processing incoming / outgoing communication and paperwork; 2) Managing schedules for command leadership along with coordinating VTC equipment; 3) Exhibiting computer applications knowledge such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe, Teams; 4) Processing country clearance forms for all site personnel and visitors, maintaining logs, providing travel services and serving as entry agent for Defense Travel System (DTS); and 5) Coordinating IT trouble calls and ensures issues are resolved. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
