Mentor Technical Group Environmental and Facilities Support Technician in Guayama, Puerto Rico

Responsibilities:

  • Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products at specified intervals to ensure conformance to requirements.

  •  Record carbon material field data, including numerical data, test results, photographs, or summaries of visual observations. Ensure compliance and collect required data of site requirements

  •  Manage hazardous chemicals and/or carbon absorber materials including handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with regulations and Company policies and procedures. 

  • Ensure compliance of client’s Environmental and Waste Management procedure requirements.

  •  Organize materials to prepare for use.

  •  Filing and locating samples; transfer and label material samples with identifying data.

  •  Transfer of material wastes between drums.

  •  Conduct routine rounds on equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment.

  •  Inspects equipment before operating and ensures that it is in safe, operable condition.

  • Ensure area is kept safe and environmentally sound, report any problems immediately.

  • Maintains clean and good housekeeping practices in waste areas.

     

  •  Ensure compliance with waste management programs such as: o Hazardous Waste o Non-Hazardous Waste General Trash o Biohazard o Recycling 

  • Provide support to facilities maintenance activities such as but no limited to:

  •  Clean facilities by sweeping, dusting etc.

  •  Perform maintenance and light repairs 

  • Perform routine landscaping on the grounds

  •  Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, sidewalks etc.)

  •  Undertake light installation or carpentry (e.g. build cabinets)

  •  Repair equipment or appliances

  •  Assist tradespeople with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs

  •  Identify and report the need for major repairs.

     

  • Operates hand truck, forklift, digger, pick-up truck and truck for waste management department functions. Inspects equipment before operating and ensures that it is in safe, operable condition.

  •  Advises Group Leader and Supervisor/Managers of the nature of violations and other needed improvements.

  •  Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/management, and/or client.

Qualifications Requirements/Knowledge/Education/Skills:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; Associate degree or Technical College Degree is preferred.

  • No experience required. 

    Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipments, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • He / she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
