Job Summary

The Manager, Software Engineering: The manager will be responsible for leading and managing the team developing the firmware for Celestica products, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining the highest quality standards. The manager will be playing a key role in driving the software development processes (such as Agile, Scrum, etc.) and complying with the product life cycle development (phase/gate deliverables). The candidates with prior experience in firmware development, with strong leadership, excellent planning and communication skill are suitable for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs the below key tasks, but not limited to:

  • Lead a team of storage SW experts

  • Coach and mentor, the team in understanding their strengths and weakness

  • Take the lead in project planning and scheduling

  • Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).

  • Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contact.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware design, other software teams, program and product management

  • Set yearly plans and goals for the team, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback.

  • Accountable for all business objectives and for key performance indicators.

  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement

  • Elevae team technical skills and consistently apply best practices

  • Keep up to date with industry knowledge and regulations

Enabling Competencies

  • Project Management - Ability to manage/lead complex engineering projects. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Leadership - Demonstrate "People & Team Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives.

  • Financial Acumen / Business Planning - Ability to create financial plans for your projects, align them internally with your line of management and other functions and externally if needed

Technical Competencies:

  • STORAGE FIRMWARE/ LINUX drivers, kernel programming

  • NOS (Layer 2/Layer 3)

  • PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES (C, C++, Python )

Other Requirements

Physical Demands:

Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Occasional travel may be required.

Experience:

12 to 15 years of relevant experience.

2-4 years of people management experience is preferable

Education:

Bachelor degree or higher education in Engineering
