Western Colorado University Resident Director in Gunnison, Colorado

Position:

Western Colorado University is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Resident Director. The position reports to the Associate Director of Community Development & Standards within the Office of Residence Life, works closely with residential students and other professional staff within the Division of Student Affairs, and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of their respective residential building including conflict management, facilitating student conduct, and serving as a mentor for students for wellness, academic, and personal concerns. The Resident Director position is a full-time live-in position that includes a fully furnished apartment within your assigned residence hall/complex, a meal plan, and dining flex dollars.

Responsibilities:

The Resident Director is responsible for serving in an on-call duty rotation and responding to campus incidents as needed, participate in departmental and divisional programs, committees, and attend meetings, provide support for student wellness and summer conferences and other duties as assigned based on departmental needs. This position will also serve as a student conduct advisor supporting the University's student conduct program. The Resident Director is also responsible for the oversight, management, training, evaluation, and selection of student staff including facilitating regular staff meetings throughout the academic year.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completed bachelor's degree One to two years' experience managing and developing a diverse team of student employees Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed Strong organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills, particularly in emergency situations Ability to work both independently and within a diverse team

Preferred Qualifications:

Completed master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field Experience as a Resident Assistant, Graduate Assistant, Resident Director, or similar live-on position Familiarity with developing, facilitating, and assessing a residential cocurricular model Familiarity with StarRez and Workday CMS systems

Compensation:

This position includes an annual salary of $40,000 and is FLSA exempt. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
