Description of Job

Position will conduct trailered watercraft inspections and decontaminations at Blue Mesa Reservoir, near Gunnison, Colorado. Position will examine inside and outside of boats and boat trailers for evidence of aquatic invasive species (AIS) such as zebra and quagga mussels, collect data and potential AIS specimens, and provide public outreach concerning AIS by answering questions and distributing printed material. Work will be completed either independently or in pairs to inspect boats at one of three Blue Mesa Reservoir boat ramps. Work may include disinfection of high-risk boats/trailers and removal of suspected invasive species with high-pressure hot water. Boat inspection training will be provided. Housing and transportation to and from duty station will not be provided.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

ASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma.

  • Possess good communication skills.

  • Have and maintain ability to climb in/out of vessels and kneel/crawl underneath trailers.

  • Availability to work weekends, early mornings and evenings is required.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
