Shire Country Medical Lead in Gurgaon (Baxalta), India

  • The role exists to be an active partner to country, regional and global marketing and sales in driving business strategy and goals for Genetic Disorders (LSDs). Drive and lead pre-launch activities and support successful launch of the LSD franchise in India.). The Incumbent shall ensure compliance for all medical affairs related activities with ethics and integrity. He/she will develop, nurture and engage KOLs in scientific activities that differentiate us as a scientifically driven healthcare organization. The incumbent is responsible for being well-informed on therapeutic areas, up to date on major studies both ongoing and completed, competitive product information and clinical data pertaining to our therapies. The role will be required to spend upto 40% of the time in the field and the rest at HO. Additionally, the role-holder is required to have a full understanding of marketing objectives and the commercial focus of the franchise to support those plans.

  • Provide expert clinical and technical product knowledge and guidance on clinical/medical questions from internal stakeholders (Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Compliance teams). May be asked to present technical scientific material.

  • Possesses/maintains a current familiarity of the published medical literature relating to the product/ disease-state area and serves as a resource regarding clinical trends and their potential impact.

  • Focus on clinical outreach programs -Design/provide medical content for the Marketing team and strategize dissemination of therapy-related communication to support brand management.

  • Provide slides and literature/medical information support to customers related to the therapy area.

  • Drive clinical studies (Phase-IV, PMS, IIS), Registry in collaboration with the KOLs across the country to create database of clinical outcomes.

  • Send regular medical update literature to the entire sales and clinical team and assess through regular testing at monthly & quarterly intervals.

  • To be the repository of clinical knowledge for the Company in the country; to liaise with the appropriate members of the global and regional franchise medical affairs function so as to facilitate migration and assimilation of clinical data, findings and trends.

  • Driver of strategic clinical studies for franchise. Brings in investigator-initiated studies to Medical Affairs. Follow through with investigators up to publication / presentation.

  • Strengthen the marketing strategies by required medical inputs (Medico Marketing Advisory)

  • Manage the clinical communication and training activities of the Business so as to create a superior clinical brand and quality perception of our products and services

  • Involve in conduct of assessment studies in the country- publications and generation of Scientific Evidence.

  • Collaborates in setting up of initiatives that support enhancements of Standard of Care at a national level.

  • Shares medical information and high-level educational scientific information and clinical guidelines with national KOLs from time to time.

  • Identifies and implements medical initiatives for development of new & existing products.

  • Builds and maintains advanced disease, product & therapy knowledge with other relevant key stakeholders.

  • Delivers balanced, fair non-promotional presentations related with advances in disease knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of competitor as well as own products.

  • Provides support on site identification. Serves as scientific support for product studies.

  • Collaborates, when requested, in the coordination of information pre-events and summaries post-events. Attends congresses & symposia. Reports on the events.

  • Represents the Medical Department at Medical Congresses and Conventions, manning medical education booths.

  • Monitors and facilitates pre-Congress abstract submissions to the local Medical affairs Department, attends poster sessions and oral presentations.

  • Assists in CME program development, organization and delivery and participates in scientific committees.

  • Assists in Advisory Board activities, including Specialty Advisory Boards, national and regional Advisory Boards and others.

  • Participates and manages Local Scientific Advisory Boards: Ongoing studies/Future studies/Areas of research/Emerging trends/Therapeutic guidelines

  • Supports new product launch
