Role Description : We are seeking an experienced Application Security Lead with a deep understanding of web application and API security, along with extensive expertise in OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) best practices and SANS Top 25 vulnerabilities. As a pivotal member of our security team, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and managing comprehensive application security programs to safeguard our software assets against evolving threats and vulnerabilities. You will collaborate closely with development teams, architects, and stakeholders to embed security into the software development lifecycle and promote a culture of secure coding practices.

Must have skills: Application Security, OWASP Top 10, Secure SDLC, OWASP ASVS, REST, SOAP, CI/CD Tools, DevSecOps

Experience: 8+ years

Qualification:

1) Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

2) Strong knowledge of web application and API security principles, OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, and secure coding practices.

3) Should have working experience on MAST solutions like Burp Suite / Kali Linux / Sqlmap / NMAP etc

4) Familiarity with web application frameworks (e.g., Spring, Spring boot, AngularJS, ReactJS) and API development platforms (e.g., RESTful APIs, SOAP based APIs).

5) Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across teams.

6) At least one scripting language like Python, Shell, Nodejs, etc.

7) Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP), or Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Define and implement application security strategies, policies, and standards aligned with industry best practices.

2) Establish governance frameworks for application security, including risk management, threat modeling, and secure coding guidelines.

3) Monitor emerging threats and vulnerabilities in web applications and APIs, and adapt security controls accordingly.

4) Integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) by implementing secure coding practices, code reviews, and security testing methodologies.

5) Collaborate with development teams to ensure the adoption of security tools and processes throughout the SDLC, including static code analysis, dynamic application security testing (DAST), and software composition analysis (SCA)

6) Conduct security assessments and penetration tests of web applications and APIs to identify vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and misconfigurations.

7) Implement security controls to protect against common web application attacks, such as injection, XSS (Cross-Site Scripting), CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery), authentication bypass, etc.

8) Develop and maintain security standards and guidelines for secure web application and API development.

9) Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence of security incidents.
