FinOps Usage/Forecast Analyst
Key job responsibility of a usage/forecast analyst is to create, maintain and update financial models, forecasts, and budgets. This involves analyzing financial data, developing models, and creating reports that help in decision-making processes.
Daily/Monthly Usage tracker
1.Reviewing cloud usage data and preparing reports on application performance (40%)
2.Participating in meetings with other applications to discuss financial planning and provide usage insights (25%)
3.Monitor and maintain dashboard to track application spending to ensure it remains within budget. (25%)
4.Provides project summary status reports to management as required or requested. (5%)
5.Monitors and reports performance against plans to ensure that usage and schedule objectives are met. (Monthly SRM and Leadership meeting presentation) (5%)
Forecasting Cycle (Estimated time per cycle(5-6 Week per cycle), Total 3 cycle in a year)
6.Developing and maintaining financial models that support forecasting and budgeting (20-40 Hours per cycle)
7.Collaborating with other members of the finance team to ensure usage data accuracy (20 hours per cycle)
8.Collaborates with executives and product managers to develop a budget for major applications.(40- 80 hours per cycle)
9.Evaluates and analyze budget proposals. (20 hours per cycle)
Conducts cost-benefit analyses to determine value & Determines whether budget proposals are in compliance with roadmap of applications. (20 hours per cycle)
Defends budget recommendations and developing a final budgetary agreement with management. (20 hours per cycle)
Estimates and forecasts future financial need and supports applications and finance stakeholders with financial analytics. (20 hours per cycle)
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
Core Skillset
· To excel in a budgeting and forecasting role, financial analysts need to possess a combination of analytical, technical, and communication skills.
· Financial analysts must have excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make sound financial decisions.
· Analysts must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and other analytical tools (e.g. PowerBI) used in the industry.
· Analysts must be able to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders clearly.
