In our core technology team, Our Data engineers design and build large scale data storage, computation and distribution systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers. Ideal candidates will have deep knowledge and problem-solving capability to deal with the technical realities of building and operating modern, highly-scaled systems for both services and data. In this role, they will exhibit strong technical skills to continuously simplify, innovate and automate the systems that support our global business. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.
Responsibilities
As a Sr. Data Engineer/Architect, you will be working in highly skilled data engineering & AI team to engineer and transform our data platforms and products. In this role, you are expected to:
Be involved in each data project from inception to understand requirements, develop, deploy, and maintain data platforms and delivered products.
Build scalable data pipelines to extract raw data, validate its quality, track lineage, detect anomalies and ensure proper delivery. Provide expertise on techniques to transform raw data into formats compatible with downstream data sources.
Implementation of performance monitoring protocols across data pipelines, building visualizations and aggregations to monitor pipeline health. Implementing solutions and self-healing processes that minimize points of failure across multiple product features.
Work in a multi-disciplinary, agile squad which involves partnering with program and product managers to expand product offering based on business demands.
Maintain collaborative working relationships with teams within the NCR Atleos technology organization, as well as with wider business. Creative and inventive problem-solving skills for reduced turnaround times are required, and valued, and will be a major part of the job.
And Ideal candidate would have:
BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
At least 5 years’ experience designing and building distributed data platforms in a medium to large scale solutions, especially with a focus in database systems internals.
Understands ingestion architecture, RT data streaming concepts, has worked with many different database architectures – both SQL and NoSQL as well as open data formats like Avro and Parquet.
Deep experience with open source technologies.
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining world class cloud-based data lake/data lake house platforms on modern data architecture, like Data Mesh, using opening source distributed frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop etc.
Experience working with open source (Apache OSS) projects and open data formats - Parquet, ORC, Avro - as well as with open metadata table format standards - Apache Iceberg, Delta
Experience developing, automated data testing, scheduling and maintaining data pipelines using open-source data orchestration frameworks like dbt, Airflow etc for data ingestion and ETL.
Experience developing data governance concepts like data lineage and quality using open-source tools.
Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, Scala and machine learning libraries
Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience with dev ops tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps
Experience with Agile development concepts and related tools
Ability to tune and trouble shoot performance issues across the codebase and database queries
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative data solutions.
Excellent written and strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
Passion for learning with a proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Nice to Have
Experience applying machine learning and AI techniques on operationalizing data pipelines.
Experience with virtualization and containerizing using Kubenetes and/or Docker
Generative AI Exposure.
