The Economist Assistant Manager / Senior Executive - Direct Tax in Gurugram, India
Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Executive or Assistant Manager (depending on experience) for Direct Tax to be part of our global tax function during a time when the tax landscape is changing at an unprecedented rate. This person will report to the Tax Manager and will work as part of the Global Tax Team to deliver an efficient global approach to direct tax compliance.
Accountabilities
Preparation of annual corporation tax returns for UK and other group companies (including using tax software, ERP system and liaising with various internal teams to gather information).
Calculation of corporation tax payments on account.
Preparation of UK current and deferred tax calculations for the consolidated Group Annual Report and also for UK entity level statutory financial statements. Calculating the tax journals to be posted to the ledgers.
Preparation of the annual UK PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) on taxable benefits (which will include analysing of staff entertaining, staff relocation, travel and subscription expenses).
Preparation of other sundry UK tax returns (Employee Share Ownership Plan trust return and employment related shares return).
Assist in withholding tax matters (including liaison with the credit control team, the commercial teams and clients).
Assist with the continuous simplification, improvement, automation and documentation of corporation tax compliance processes and control.
Providing support and input into global tax audits (auditors and tax authorities)
Support the tax team on a number of subjects (including assisting with the preparation of transfer pricing journals; attend quarterly meetings with tax authorities; assist on advisory and research work; assist with tracking Short Term Business Visitors to the UK; support with other tax compliance and administrative processes for the wider Tax department as needed).
Experience, skills and professional attributes
The ideal skills for this role are:
Education and training:
Finance professional with at least 3-5 years of accounting or direct tax experience in any jurisdiction
Accountancy or other equivalent qualification preferred
Previous work experience:
Experience of working in a finance team within a global corporate environment
Experience of systems improvement, automation and standardisation of processes
IT:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel – familiarity with pivot tables, look ups and other data manipulation capabilities)
Languages:
Excellent English
Key skills:
An understanding of how regulations and reporting requirements affect how transactions need to be recorded
Personal attributes:
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform self-review to ensure data integrity and accuracy
Quick learner with good organizational and oral/written communication skills
Work well to collaborate across various teams, including accounting, external auditors, commercial teams, HR, payroll and legal.
Ability to complete work within deadlines
