Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager, User Experience Design will lead a team of interaction designers, visual designers and content strategists to ensure continual growth, relevance and consistency of all digital touchpoints for United's Planning and Booking team. Along with the UX Director, the Manager will provide guidance and leadership, direct team activities, provide feedback, and be accountable for the overall quality of the digital experience. The Manager provides supervision and development opportunities for team members. This role has a global focus and responsibility.

  • Visualize ideas using professional design tools as well as sticky notes, sketch boards, whiteboard markers or whatever tools are necessary to rapidly work through ideation and move to the next stage

  • Identify user needs and business requirements along with generate ideas for innovation/improvements based on research, analysis, and competitive reviews

  • Substantiate design approach with analysis & projections for improvements

  • Ensure digital customer touch points become and remain consistent with United’s user experience and brand standards, developing intuitive, usable, and engaging designs

  • Create final design deliverables through appropriately detailed design specifications, such as Figma and Sketch comps

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as well as the domestic CoreUX team and business partners throughout the design process

  • Communicate harmoniously with multiple stakeholders to synthesize, review design project progress, and incorporate feedback appropriately with a user-centered focus

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A user-centered approach in design perspective and practice

  • 6+ years of experience in UI/UX design

  • Proficiency using UX and protyping tools (Axure, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, etc.)

  • Experience with WCAG accessibility standards

  • Proven effectiveness in working as a member in cross-functional teams which include business analysts, designers, researchers, developers, and product owners

  • Experience with Agile and/or lean philosophy and methods

  • Design experience for both web and mobile

  • Ability to create wireframes as well as visual design comps

  • Portfolio examples of sketches, workflows, interactions, and end state work.

  • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Positive attitude and be able to work effectively in a team

  • Strong sense of accountability and drive to get results

  • High attention to detail but able to work quickly to meet deadlines

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively

  • Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice

  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship

Preferred

  • Master's degree

  • Airline experience

  • Understanding of HTML, JavaScript & CSS
