We are looking for

A Manufacturing Engineer with strong motivation and engagement for continuously improving the manufacturing process. The engineer is expected to cultivate relationships and use the experience of our educated workforce as a standard way of working. This Manufacturing Engineer would be accountable for leading projects and being an ambitious team member. This role will allow the engineer to work within a diverse highly skilled team. This team’s goal is to implement optimal cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications in a safe way all while delivering a high quality product. This is a two-shift assembly operation and support beyond first shift is necessary on occasion. You will be held accountable to contribute to our continuous improvement culture focused on waste elimination, employee engagement and change towards a built-in-quality mindset of the entire Powertrain operation organization of Hagerstown.

Main activities and responsibilities for this role:

  • Evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes, techniques, equipment, gauging, IT systems, and tooling to work towards zero defects.

  • Use the knowledge of the workforce and current practices to innovatively introduce and implement new manufacturing processes, products and projects

  • Learn and evaluate new technologies and systems ability to be introduced to our current processes and products

  • Develop cost effective engineering solutions with flexibility for product and volume changes.

  • Perform benchmarking and utilize best practices locally and globally throughout the engineering organization.

  • Develop project plans including participating in pre-studies, theoretical volume capacity scenarios, following up and monitoring activities, and gaining agreement from relevant stakeholders

  • Listen to understand the needs of both internal and external customers

  • Present ideas, problems, and solutions clearly in written and verbal communication

  • Collaborate with a team mindset to creatively solve problems and deescalate any potential conflict

  • Take initiative to foresee problems and take appropriate actions to minimize the risk of those potential problems

  • Have a mind-set of continuous, focused improvements while having an overall perspective that embraces promoting a safe and clean working environment

Who are you?

We are looking for a team member with a strong customer focus who will be committed to the teamwork environment through being a resourceful team player. Maintaining collaborative relationships with team members internal and external is key in creating a successful and strong team. Experience with decision making and influencing ability is key in being able to drive the implementation and necessary changes. Excellent communication skills will ease both team and cross functional work for allowing trustworthy network building.

  • BS Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent

  • 3+ years of exceling in manufacturing engineering or similar field

  • Demonstrated individual and teamwork problem solving, risk identification, and mitigation skills

  • Time management, prioritization skills, and excellent communication skills
