The Purchasing Intern will support the Procurement Department in various tasks related to the acquisition of goods and services. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in purchasing and supply chain management, develop essential skills, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the procurement process.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Research: Assist in researching potential suppliers, evaluating their offerings, and maintaining a database of preferred vendors.
Purchase Orders: Support the creation, tracking, and management of purchase orders. Ensure timely and accurate processing.
Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels and placing orders to replenish stock as needed. Help maintain accurate inventory records.
Vendor Communication: Communicate with suppliers to obtain product information, negotiate prices, and track order status. Resolve any issues related to deliveries or discrepancies.
Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and product availability. Provide insights to the purchasing team.
Cost Analysis: Assist in analyzing costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings. Help evaluate supplier performance based on cost, quality, and delivery.
Documentation: Support the maintenance of procurement records, contracts, and documentation. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing function. Assist in implementing best practices.
Reporting: Assist in preparing and maintaining reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and inventory levels. Provide regular updates to management.
Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned. Provide support for ad-hoc analysis and reporting related to purchasing.
Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field. Students must be at a minimum sophomore standing with a GPA 2.8 or higher.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Familiarity with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret data and provide meaningful insights.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work with complex data and ensure precision in documentation and reporting.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
