This 24/7 facility uses the newest technology to assemble the majority of our shock-absorber production for three separate yet integral production groups Original Equipment (OE), Aftermarket (AM) and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV). We work with our customers to provide the right system for the desired ride from passive monotube shock absorbers to those that are adjustable, we have you covered for the optimal driving experience. Your responsibilities Summary: The Production Supervisor 2nd shift (2:00pm 10:30pm) is responsible for providing direct supervision of production employees in OE on an assigned shift to include work scheduling, employee training, ensuring production quality and quantity requirements are met, evaluating staffing needs, performance management and employee relations, administering safety, communication and teambuilding programs. Interacts with all departments and levels of the organization to optimize processes and production. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Monitors and improves safety performance in compliance with safety codes, policies, and procedures of BILSTEIN and standards established by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and is required to report any unsafe act, potential issues, or other safety concerns. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same. Leadership Supervises production teams engaged in the assembly of shock absorbers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing/recommending candidates for hire, completing performance reviews, documenting corrective action issues, training and staff development, maintaining safe working conditions, etc. Sets goals and priorities for the work teams to ensure accurate, efficient and timely task completion. Conducts effective communications with teams in huddles and other forums. Advises management of problems, requesting guidance and counsel as appropriate. Provides creative and innovative ideas to improve operational productivity while maintaining a safe work environment. Fosters a team environment within the facility and demonstrates strong leadership skills. Is physically present on the floor providing critical leadership to team members. Positively engages and interacts with customers, team members, vendors, visitors. Promotes team concept and encourages team member involvement in process improvement and problem resolution. Operational Works closely with Production Schedulers to meet customer demand while ensuring quality standards are met, improved upon and ultimately exceeded. Manages continuous improvement with respect to 6S standards and IDEAS program and recommends improvements to production methods and processes. Responsible for making sure all subordinates are effectively trained on work instructions, machinery, equipment, processes, and required paperwork. Responsible for quality, cost, delivery and labor efficiency of department. Assists and maintains appropriate inventory levels and product loss controls. Assists in the development and implementation of processes and procedures consistent with safety, service, quality, and cost objectives. Communicates with other Production Supervisors and the Production Unit Leader daily on operational issues and events. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, analyzes production errors, and recommends/implements corrective action for assigned shifts.
