Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Hampton, Virginia

Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Clerk in the Government industry, based in Hampton, Virginia. This role involves handling numerous tasks related to accounts payable and data entry, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Handle the processing of all payable invoices in an accurate and timely manner

• Maintain up-to-date and precise records of all accounts payable transactions

• Respond to any inquiries related to accounts payable swiftly and professionally

• Perform regular audits of customer accounts and take necessary actions based on findings

• Utilize data entry skills to input and manage financial data efficiently

• Implement coding invoices procedures to ensure proper categorization of expenses

• Ensure all customer credit applications are processed accurately

• Continually monitor customer credit records for accuracy and updates

• Take part in financial reporting tasks as required

• Cooperate with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the department. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) management, with a comprehensive understanding of its principles and procedures.

• Demonstrated expertise in Data Entry, with the ability to accurately input, track, and manage a high volume of financial information.

• Experience in Coding Invoices, with a focus on correctly classifying and recording financial data.

• Knowledge of government financial policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance in all financial operations.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.

• Proficiency in using financial software and office productivity suite, particularly spreadsheet software for financial data management.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with vendors, staff, and management on account payable matters.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.

• A minimum of a high school diploma, or equivalent, with a preference for candidates with a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
