IUPAT Senior Desktop Administrator in Hanover, Maryland

Description/Job Summary

The Senior Desktop Administrator is responsible for desktop support, management and interoperability, network administration, and all other activities that are necessary for the operation, including the daily monitoring of IUPAT and client systems. This position is part of a small team of IT professionals and reports to the IS Operations Manager. This position requires a highly-motivated individual who can work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities/Duties

Provide customer support including, but not limited to, desktop support, systems administration for assigned servers, application support and hardware configuration

Build, enhance, test, and deploy Windows images using MDT and/or other imaging tools.

Execute enterprise-wide software installs/upgrades/patches/uninstalls via centralized deployment tool.

Provide support & troubleshooting from our Help Desk for hardware and software related issues.

Printer and other related devices support and maintenance.

Monitor high-level local system operations and troubleshoot system problems

Create detailed & thorough documentation of processes and procedures.

Perform preventative maintenance

Assess the hardware and software needs for office functions and assist with procuring, implementing, and support

Assist in the evaluation of new hardware and software solutions.

Maintaining inventory, user accounts, and group assignments life cycle.

Stays current with technological developments in desktop administration technology and recommends ways for IUPAT to take advantage of new technology.

Complete special projects as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Windows 10/11 and Windows Server Operating systems

Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures

Excellent customer service and communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing.

Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively

Excellent time management, organization, and coordination skills.

Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities.

Display discretion and maintain confidentiality of information both internally and externally.

Function with high level of attention to detail.

Deliver basic problem solving and prioritization skills independently.

Required Experience

  • At least five (5) years' work experience in complex desktop environment

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems and GSuite/Google Workspace

Preferred Experience

  • Certifications such as A+, N+, MCSA/MCP are a plus

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline

Details

Approximately 80% of the day is spent using the computer. Working environment is the typical office atmosphere. Incumbent is on call to provide support services during off hours. Scheduled night and weekend work is required. Forty (40) hours constitutes the regular work week. The working hours will be eight (8) with a 30-minute lunch break per day. Flex time window applicable (7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). However, flex window hours are subject to change to assigned start time(s) based on departmental needs.

Moderate lifting may be required office. Business Casual Dress Code.

$60,000 - $80,000 with health insurance and retirement savings plans.
