Jacobs Systems Engineer - TS/SCI with Poly in Hanover, Maryland

General Office environment the work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Administration and optimization of existing hosts and servers to ensure a high degree of availability and appropriate resource management.

  • Research, recommend and implement strategies and hardware and software products to build upon a highly complex infrastructure that supports the changing needs of our customer.

  • Design, develop, integrate and maintain complex systems for every stage of a lifecycle.

  • Reliably deliver mission-critical infrastructure with an eye toward accessibility, optimization, and security.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Clearance Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph. Must be a US citizen.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management or related discipline from accredited college or university. Additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.

Certifications:

  • SEC PLUS CE or equivalent.

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Seven (7) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. An additional Five (5) years of SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree for a total of Twelve (12) years of SE experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Experience with monitoring solutions and datacenter operations.

  • Experience with a hybrid Linux, Microsoft, VMWare environment.

  • Build, maintain, troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory domain and Group Policy Objects.

  • Be able to install and perform basic troubleshooting of a LAMP server.

  • Be able to install, configure, and maintain instances of Windows Server 2016 and 2022.

  • Apply STIG settings via local settings and set network enforcement for Microsoft products.

  • Be able to configure and troubleshoot Microsoft OSes with the registry, LGPO, and Domain GPOs.

  • In depth experience with Microsoft command line and PowerShell.

  • Experience maintaining Microsoft Remote Access Server or Microsoft Desktops inside a VDI.

  • Installing and configuring McAfee Antivirus end points and EPO Server.

  • Be able to read and understand RSOP.

  • Be able to read and understand Nessus reports.

  • Install and configure varied operating systems on both bare metal and inside a VM.

  • Strong desire to learn new tools and technologies on a small team.

  • Exposure to vCenter and able to manage a VM within a VMWare environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with installing, configuring, maintaining and using Atlassian products such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, etc.

  • Create and maintain certificates in Microsoft and Linux servers.

  • Experience managing an imaging server for Microsoft Desktops.

  • Experience capturing, deploying, and maintaining an image for Microsoft Desktops.

  • Experience managing a WSUS or SCCM server.

  • Experience managing a backup server and policies.

  • Ability to perform basic tasks within vCenter and manage Horizon View images.

  • Experience with the What’s Up Gold application.

  • Able to install and configure Nessus agents.

  • Experience with Docker containers, WSL, and securing them.

  • Knowledge of or experience with how data center systems are interconnected and interrelated. Ability to explain how disparate data center technologies work together.

  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl).

  • Ability to explain complex abstraction layer designs and troubleshooting steps.

  • Ability to work independently while being conscious of how your work interacts with that of others.

  • Ability to work flex and overtime hours with some weekend hours expected.

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely; analytical problem-solving skills; adept at root-cause analysis and mitigation.

  • Possess drive, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements gatherings skills are needed to be effective in this role for working with other members of the Team and with the Customer to meet the requirements of the program.
