JPL Accounting Manager in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the accounting operations of JPL and its subsidiary D’Vinci Interactive. The scope of this position includes the production of financial information and periodic reports that comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy of financial results. Additionally, this person oversees the payroll function to include processing, reporting, troubleshooting, and preparation of employee and tax-related information.
Oversee and comprehensively understand all accounting functions (Treasury, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Tax)
Lead the financial close and reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results
Define, implement, and ensure consistent application of all accounting policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Identify and implement process and control improvements to streamline operations and mitigate risk
Supervise and mentor accounting staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong business relationships
Establish timelines and accountability for all accounting activities
Collaborate with CPA firm to support preparation of quarterly review reports, tax returns, and certain audits
Prepare and review ledger entries and reconciliations
Produce and interpret key financial data analytics and reports
Serve as the lead system administrator for general ledger and financial reporting software systems
Payroll set-up, auditing, approval, related reporting, and integration between other systems
Support periodic financial projection and annual budget processes by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating information across all departments
Respond to financial-related inquiries from staff, vendors, clients and banks
5+ years of progressive accounting and supervisory experience
B.S. in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition under ASC 606 and applicable payroll laws
Proficient Excel and MS Office skills
Paylocity or other payroll system experience a plus
Experience in a professional services or marketing agency environment a plus
Superior organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a customer-service mindset
Protect confidential payroll information and maintain employee confidence
Ability to work independently and hands-on with minimal supervision in a hybrid workplace
