PennDOT is currently hiring a Clerical Assistant 3 to join the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. As part of this role, you will be responsible for examining and processing PA Fleet & Commonwealth Automated Registration and Titling System (CARATS) motor vehicle applications. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As the Clerical Assistant 3, you will handle various motor vehicle transactions related to PA Fleet. Transactions will be received through mail, messenger, legislative, fax, and customer service counter. Your responsibilities include creating and managing PA Fleet accounts by processing motor vehicle and PA Fleet applications via various channels like mail, legislative, messenger, customer service counter, fax, or telephone. Knowledge of regulations affecting PA Fleet registration from external entities like Public Utility Commission, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Allegheny Port Authority, and Philadelphia Parking Authority is beneficial.

Your role will involve addressing customer queries by explaining the motor vehicle code, departmental policies, and other regulations in a way that customers can understand. It is important to maintain a professional and polite demeanor that aligns with departmental policies and expectations. Additionally, you will be responsible for safeguarding registration products, credentials, and funds related to motor vehicle activity. This includes handling and processing cash, money orders, personal checks, and certified funds. It is crucial to accurately document and utilize the appropriate fee waiver code when necessary to complete customer transactions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
