Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Emergency Management Trainee in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4438796 THE POSITION The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) is actively seeking a detail-oriented person to fulfill important emergency management duties. Your duties are vital in supporting the Commonwealth with readiness and response in emergencies and disasters. You will collaborate with state agencies, regional task forces, counties, and localities to plan for incidents affecting Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of your role, you will engage in various training sessions, workshops, and practical assignments to enhance your skills in emergency response planning, organizing, equipping, and evaluation. This includes supporting the development, evaluation, and promotion of emergency operations plans, coordinating activities related to prevention, response, and recovery, and conducting training and mitigation programs. As you advance in your training, you will take on more challenging projects. Your supervisor will provide guidance, assign and review work, and ensure that the training plan's goals and objectives are achieved.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Schedule is dependent on activations or other needs of the operation, may be required to serve in the Commonwealth Response Coordination Center. Telework: Part-time telework may be approved after the successful completion of a comprehensive on-site training period.In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in emergency management, homeland security, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension. Conditions of Employment: This position requires certification in the following courses from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute, within 6 months of hire: IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction IS-2200: Basic Emergency Operations Center Functions Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
