DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Legal Assistant 1 position will be responsible for managing the intake, review and processing of Medical Care Availability and Reduction of Error (MCare) Act matters for the Prosecution Division in the Professional Compliance Office (PCO), located in the Bureau Professional and Occupational Affairs' (BPOA).  Under the MCare Act (40 P.S. Section 1303.903), physicians are required to report to their respective Boards if the following occur: they receive notice of a complaint filed against them; disciplinary action is taken against them in another state; and various arrest and sentencing information.

This position will also be responsible for providing clerical and office support such as handling emails, phone calls, and mail processing within the Professional Compliance Office to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position provides prompt and courteous assistance to the public by responding to calls received on the Professional Compliance Office phone line, along with moderately complex clerical work including typing and the processing of documents in a variety of functions. Efficiency is key to ensuring our division meets its goals, and this position will use cloud-based case management systems to maximize efficiency on a regular basis. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
