Royalty Tax Services LLC is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Tax Supervisor/Office Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure the smooth execution of our tax preparation services under the VITA program. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for serving low-income, elderly, and underserved community members. As a key team member, you will manage staff, supervise tax preparation activities, and uphold our mission of empowering financial freedom in the community.
Job Duties
• Supervision & Management:
• Oversee and support tax preparers and office assistants in their daily tasks.
• Ensure accurate and compliant preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Monitor office workflows, resolve client or staff concerns, and maintain a positive work environment.
• Coordinate schedules and ensure adequate staffing during peak hours.
• Tax Preparation & Expertise:
• Serve as the go-to expert for complex tax scenarios and assist staff with challenging cases.
• Review completed tax returns for accuracy and compliance with IRS and VITA guidelines.
• Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to tax preparers.
• Administrative Management:
• Manage client intake processes, documentation, and electronic filing systems.
• Ensure the office meets operational standards, including maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Support the site coordinator in reporting and communicating with VITA partners.
• Community Engagement:
• Promote a culture of service excellence in line with Royalty Tax Services' mission.
• Work directly with clients, offering financial guidance and educating them on leveraging refunds to achieve financial freedom.
Job Skills and Qualifications
• Proven experience in tax preparation, with knowledge of IRS tax laws and VITA guidelines preferred.
• Strong leadership skills, including team management and conflict resolution.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office).
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• IRS VITA certification (or willingness to obtain during training).
Days and Hours of Work
• Full-time role with availability Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM -- 5:00 PM, with flexibility during tax season.
• Occasional weekend availability may be required during peak periods (January -- April).
Special Requirements
• Must complete IRS VITA training and certification before the start of tax season.
