Position Summary and Purpose: The OHS Technician will work closely with management and employees to identify and mitigate potential hazards, develop and implement safety and environmental policies and procedures, and keep the company in compliance of all applicable safety and environmental regulations. *Those currently seeking an Occupational Safety (or similar) degree with a desire to work in the Health and Safety industry are welcome to apply as this position supports flexible work arrangements to balance studies with your career. Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Conduct Risk Assessments

  • Conduct N ew Hire Safety Orientation Training

  • Assists in the Investigation of Incidents (to include near misses)

  • Mitigate any Potential Hazards

  • Promote a Safe Working Environment

  • Communicate safety and environmental / occupational regulations and policy requirements to all levels of the organization

Education and Experience

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or certificate of equivalency required, Associate degree or technical school certificate is a plus

  • Working Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910, General Industry, as well as 29 CFR 1926 Construction

  • Familiar with NFPA, ANSI, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 Standards and Environmental Protection Agency regulations

  • Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills

  • Be Flexible, Organized, and have Attention to Detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, and Google Office

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical demands: This position is very active and requires frequent standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing of ladders. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, to reach with hands and arms, to climb or balance, to talk and hear; must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: Manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.
