POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for children, adolescents, and young adults. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals across the developmental spectrum and possess a strong understanding of developmental psychiatry. Essential Position Duties

  • Obtain relevant information about an individual through one on one interview to include the persons genetic/social background, history of symptoms, childhood experiences and symptom history required to formulate a diagnosis.
  • After diagnosis and assessment, initiate a treatment plan. If appropriate make recommendations, referrals, engage in therapy and/or prescribe medications.
  • Provide initial psychotropic medication and medication evaluations on clients referred by Behavioral Health clinicians.
  • Provide medication management therapy for clients of behavioral health.
  • Collect and maintain the patient records to analyze the progress of the treatment.
  • Explain the form of treatment and the expected behavior with the patient, to the family members, guardians or relatives of the patient.
  • Treat patients with various mental disorders, which can be a minor problem like anxiety to very serious disorder like schizophrenia.
  • Analyze the psychiatric history of the patient and attend sessions with the patient to solve the psychological problem.
  • Complete managed care treatment plans and initial review for clients seen for psychotropic medication management within 72 hours of provided service.
  • Consult/collaborate with Behavioral Health providers within, and outside of the agency to provide comprehensive behavioral health services within 24 hours.
  • Consult with primary care providers as needed for coordination of care of agency clients.
  • From linkages with schools medical departments/nurse in order to establish continuity of care for patients whenever appropriate.
  • Provide feedback to Director of Behavioral Health and Executive Vice President of Medical regarding behavioral health and systems issues.
  • Be on call for medication consultation 24/7. On rotation with other medical providers within behavioral health.
  • Be able to review and co-sign any applicable documents needed to assist clients needs.
  • Complies with agencys Mission.
  • Must maintain appropriate attendance.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as required by management.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct and HIPAA.
  • Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required.
  • Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance in accordance with COHC Compliance Reporting Process.
  • Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
  • Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification/board eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of direct clinical experience in psychiatric care, preferably with a focus on children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-25).
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, evidence-based psychotherapies, and psychiatric diagnostic assessments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with pat ents of all ages.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in CT
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical environment.
