Job Summary
The de Grummond Collection Assistant oversees the University Libraries' responsibilities pertaining to the Ezra Jack Keats awards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Along with the Curator and the EJK executive committee, oversees the guidelines for the awards and updates the information, including committee members’ names and addresses, annually.
Along with the Chair of the committee, contacts publishers concerning sending eligible titles for consideration and records books received. Organizes and stores all submissions according to category, i. e., illustrator or writer or both.
Coordinates the virtual deliberations meetings and the annual virtual “meet and greet” meeting.
Coordinates press release for the winners after the publishers have been contacted; publicizes events before and after.
Coordinates all aspects of the Award Ceremony which includes making travel arrangements for EJK Foundation, EJK Committee, and communicating with winners and honors regarding travel and schedule; ordering book bags for festival attendees; creating rack cards, etc. for promotional items.
Coordinates all details of the reception at the Fay B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival (reservations, catering, invitations, RSVPs, volunteers). Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Library Science, English, or related subject.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Superior organizational skills.
Knowledge of children's literature, particularly picture books
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
