Zeon Chemicals Maintenance Manager in Hattiesburg, Mississippi

This is a Maintenance Manager position with a company in Hattiesburg, MS.

Summary: This position manages the maintenance and engineering operations of the Mississippi plant to ensure the company's business, economic and compliance targets are met.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Plant Manager, sets tactical and strategic direction for the maintenance department. Provides SHE (Safety/Health/Environmental) leadership and direction by actively and positively supporting and developing initiatives for SHE improvement. Ensures safe operation of maintenance team providing training and enforcing safety rules and procedures. Strives to lower manufacturing costs by identifying and championing reliability improvements to reduce maintenance cost and downtime; identify and execute cost reduction projects; identify and execute energy reduction projects and obtain maximum productivity of personnel. Accurately evaluate employee performance, coaching as necessary to achieve optimum potential. Manages maintenance work planning/scheduling processes. Develop, implement, and track processes/procedures/metrics. Manages site maintenance and storeroom costs/budget. Identifies ideas and execute initiatives to improve operational performance. Manages turnaround planning and execution process, including equipment overhauls and major inspection / maintenance activities. Develops strategy to improve and achieve world class maintenance & reliability performance. Aligns maintenance and reliability performance indicators with overall business objectives. Oversees contractor activities to ensure they comply with established company standards. Develops, manages, and executes capital and expense projects throughout the plant site from ideation through execution, ensuring startups are safe, on time and within the approved project cost. Identify, develop and execute cost reduction projects. Identify, develop and execute projects to lower the carbon footprint of the site. Monitors and ensures integrity of the physical plant (buildings, roofs, etc.) Works in concert with plant and corporate staff to develop annual budgets, capital expenditure plans, environmental compliance, hazardous waste reduction, process and equipment improvements, new product development, unit goals, personnel training and the organization and implementation of new systems. Participates in the development and execution of the plant's capital spending budget. In conjunction SHE partner, effectively manages the LDAR program. Continuously seek ways to improve performance of our plant's operation and ensure customer's (both internal and external) needs are met. Provides tools and work processes to maximize plant uptime and minimize maintenance costs by improving equipment mean-time-between-failure and mean-time-to-repair rates. Ensures planned maintenance inspections (PM/PdM/MI) are completed in accordance with established schedules. Monitors and executes upon identified improvement opportunities. Performs life cycle cost analysis on design modification and equipment upgrade options. Maintains an equipment replacement forecast and monitors end of service life trends. Benchmarks maintenance capabilities across Zeon to identify best practices and improve performance. Monitors maintenance activities for repetitive maintenance items and top reliability issues, then initiates improvement projects as necessary. Track / publish standard maintenance, reliability, storeroom performance metrics in order to drive continuous improvement. Troubleshoots equipment performance issues, evaluates equipment repair versus replacement and recommends corrective actions. Maintains equipment records and documentation for site equipment. Ensures the Management of Change (MOC) and Mechanical Integrity (Ml) requirements under OSHA's Process Safety Management regulation are met. Ensures mechanical integrity practices are aligned with Zeon corporate standards. Reviews all PSM Mechanical Integrity inspecti n results for completeness and initiates appropriate corrective action as necessary to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance. Maintains all PSM equipment records in audit ready condition.

Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Bachelors in Chemical or Electrical Engineering is considered with appropriate experience. 10+ years of relevant experience is required. Broad technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment in a specialty reactive chemical plant or refinery type operation required. Good understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance reliability techniques. Must possess knowledge of current applicable PSM and Ml regulations to the industry (OSHA 1910.119, AP-510, APl-570, APl-653). Knowledge of all plant operating areas and mechanical and instrumentation systems in the plant. Minimum ten years related experience in a specialty reactive chemical or refinery manufacturing environment required. Experience in responsibility for the direction and guidance of work groups. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong MS Office and personal computer knowledge is critical. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential. Must have excellent business systems experience.  Ability to work flexible schedules as necessary is required.  Must be able to manage time in an environment of changing and multiple priorities.
