Hormel Foods General Accounting Specialist-CLMB in Hayward, California

Responsible for all tasks relating to payroll processing such as collecting employees' timesheets and payroll data, calculating wages, issuing statements, detailing earnings, and preparing paychecks. Drive process and report company payroll and maintain comprehensive payroll data, inclusive of weekly, monthly, and annual headcount reporting and related financial reporting.

Accounts Payable responsibilities pertain to complete payments and control expenses by receiving payments, plus processing, verifying and reconciling invoices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop pay practices, train, and manage against pay policies to ensure total compliance.

  2. Analyze, prepare, and input payroll data.

  3. Uses ADP automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures all hours worked are accounted for and correctly paid. Research and correct discrepancies. Update files. Monitor time tracking (punch) system as related to payroll.

  4. Resolve payroll questions, problems

  5. Work with confidential data.

  6. Ensure process is always being adhered to in all Columbus locations

  7. Match, verify, receive invoices, and correct purchase orders and post invoices and obtaining approvals for payment

  8. Process AP-related journal entries

  9. Assisting with the month-end close, reviewing general ledger accounts for reconciliation

  10. Answer vendor and branch calls and e-mails concerning accounts payable

  11. Scan and validate invoices and all related documents

  12. Additional responsibilities as assigned or necessary.

Educational and Job Experience Requirements

  1. College Degree Preferred

  2. Manufacturing experience preferred but not required

  3. Oracle knowledge a plus, but not required

  4. High attention to detail

  5. 1+ years of Accounts Payable experience

  6. 1+ years of Payroll experience

  7. Microsoft Office Experience

  1. Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with proficiency in English, written and verbal.

  2. Good customer service aptitude and able to work effectively with other to achieve shared goals.

  3. Ability to work with and maintain strict confidential data.

  4. Excellent data entry skills with a keen attention to details.

  5. Must be comfortable working in an expanding business with a high volume of transactions

  6. Strong MS Office skills, specifically Excel

  7. Ability to meet deadlines, work efficiently and in an organized manner

Required Licenses/Certifications

Additional/Preferred

  1. Food manufacturing or beverage industry experience preferred.

  2. Good understanding of plant manufacturing environment and processes a big plus

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role – sitting for long periods of time and with some walking/movement for retrieval of documents/filing. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, use fingers/hands with documents and to reach with hands, arms.
