Field Applications Food Scientist As a Field Applications Food Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of sales by providing technical expertise and collaborating with customers. Your responsibilities will involve understanding food products, troubleshooting, and ensuring quality control. Here are the key aspects of this role: Duties & Responsibilities: Technical Support: Assist the regional sales team in account development, including technical and feasibility meetings. Demonstrate products and applications in key accounts, training customers on proper usage of instrumentation, assays, and kits. Customer Engagement: Conduct customer presentations and seminars on products within the instrumentation platform portfolio. Collaborate with Sales Specialists to identify and qualify instrumentation leads. Support sales efforts by participating in technical seminars, poster sessions, demonstrations, focused sales calls, and thought-leader networking. Product Differentiation: Enhance differentiation of products and services based on scientific, technical, and competitive principles. Network with opinion leaders in key focus product areas. Collaboration and Credibility: Team up with account managers for effective team selling. Establish technical credibility with target clients. Technical Knowledge: Food Science and Technology: A strong foundation in food science principles, including food chemistry, microbiology, and food engineering. Understanding how ingredients interact during processing and how they affect product quality is crucial. Ingredient Functionality: Proficiency in understanding the functionality of various ingredients (such as emulsifiers, stabilizers, and preservatives) and their impact on product texture, taste, and shelf life. Formulation Expertise: Ability to create and optimize food and beverage formulations, considering sensory attributes, nutritional content, and cost-effectiveness. Food Safety and Quality Assurance: Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA) and quality control procedures to ensure products meet industry standards. Communication and Collaboration: Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective communication with colleagues from different departments (e.g., marketing, production, regulatory affairs) to align product development goals. Presentation Skills: Articulate communication of research findings, product concepts, and technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
