The Boeing Research and Technology Computational Fluid Dynamics Group is looking for a Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer to join the team in Hazelwood, Missouri.

The Computational Fluid Dynamics group develops and applies advanced aerodynamic analysis tools and processes to a wide variety of flight platforms across the speed range ranging from low speed to supersonic flight. The products and services of this group cover the complete product life cycle of Boeing's commercial and military aircraft and advanced vehicle concepts.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Development and/or application of aerodynamic analysis and optimization tools

  • Grid generation technologies and experience applying them to industrial problems

  • Leads, plans, and performs aerodynamic/aero thermodynamic design and analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets requirements

  • Leads the development of new and improving existing technologies, tools, and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Hazelwood office in the Greater St. Louis, MO area.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship . An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s or DSc/PhD degree in Engineering from an accredited university in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry with research experience

  • Able to perform CFD applications and code/process development tasks

  • Good communication skills; ability to work with a team or individually as required.

  • Capable of analyzing aerodynamic flow-field and extracting engineering data

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Background in compressible and/or incompressible fluid dynamics and turbulence

  • Background in general numerical analysis and numerical methods appropriate for unstructured grid CFD

  • Background in scientific programming and code development (C, C++, and modern Fortran).

  • Familiarity with Linux systems and HPC cluster computing

  • Fundamental knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, and a range of numerical methods appropriate for unstructured grid CFD

  • Advanced knowledge of fluid dynamics including compressible flows and turbulence

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $113,900 - $154,100
